Every year on September 5th, there is a more vibrant and positive atmosphere in our educational institutions in India.
That is because on this day ever year, we commemorate the birthday of our second president of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhkrishnan. Apart from holding this honorary position, he was also a renowned scholar and philosopher.
He was dedicated to the cause of education. When his friends and students suggested celebration of his birthday, he humbly asked to not honour him, but dedicate this day to those who shape the future generation – the teachers. This suggestion marked a special moment for teachers.
Ever since then, from 1962 onwards, we celebrate his birthday as Teacher’s Day in India every year on September 5th. This is a way of thanking for the tireless efforts educators make in nurturing young minds. There are no words to describe how important is there role in building a better future for the country.
